brian swindle

we caught up with brian swindle for an intimate interview

  • question: We are loving your new single “Midnight Trips.” Can you tell us a little about the backstory of the song? When was it written and recorded?
  • answer: Thank you! I was just reflecting on my journey in the past year and a half and knew I needed to put the thoughts into musical form. It is a happier song and kind of a “thank you” to my fiancé. Bass was recorded in California by my buddy AJ, drums we’re done outside of Baltimore by my friend Tyler, and everything else was done out of my home in Baltimore.
  • question: What is a favorite memory from your youth? How long have you been creating music?
  • answer: When I think about my youth it’s a lot of hanging with my friends and being around punk music. I’ve been creating music since my early teens but didn’t really take it serious until my 20’s.
  • question: What are some of your favorite go-to TV shows? What is your personal favorite song you’ve written thus far?
  • answer: Okay so we’ve been binging Handmaids Tale around this house lately. It is a rollercoaster. But go-to is It’s Always Sunny. It never fails and I laugh at different elements with every watch. My favorite song may be “Just Fine” off of Have Mercy’s ‘The Love Life’ or “Dressed Down”. Both are really cool to me.
  • question: What has been the hardest part of adulthood? What do you miss most about being in Have Mercy?
  • answer: I think there’s a lot of difficulty in being an adult. Not just from a responsibility aspect. Learning your limits, who your true friends are, and how to be the best you, were things that I had trouble with until now. I miss the shows. I miss seeing the fans sing back the words. There’s nothing better than getting off stage after a good show. There’s a lot I wish I could go back and redo but I’m moving forward in my life and feel great.
  • question: Who inspires you to be a great person? Do you have an ultimate goal for Brian Swindle?
  • answer: My parents and family really inspire me to be a good person. They’re all admirable people. My ultimate goal for me is to be the best at anything I do. Right now I’m focusing on producing and engineering. I want to be the best. So I wake up everyday and start working and teaching myself new things. I also want to be the best partner to my fiancé and the best person my friends and family could ask for. As an artist, I just want to grow and learn. That’s all you can do. Thanks for talking to me!

we are very inspired at how much you’ve grown as a musician and more importantly, as a person, and we want to say thank you for the interview
